Monday 6th August 2007: Homeward bound and a sting in the tail!

Atā Riga!
We left the London four at the hotel to make their own way back on a later flight to Riga.

The skipper had the biggest hangover of the trip but hadn't even drunk enough to justify it, the wimp! Not enough water, dehydrated, he claimed as he sat in Riga Airport with a wet t-shirt on his head.

The flight back to Britain was smooth and we were all commenting how the tour had gone without a major hitch travel wise. “Don’t count your chickens. There could be a sting in the tail yet boys!” Aussie Justin Peacock proclaimed!

Sting in the tail
That sting was to be for the Aussie himself when he got to Liverpool Airport and found his UK work visa was almost up, no onward ticket, and he didn’t have his British passport with him (it had expired as well)… A long-ish delay at passport control and an interview with the authorities made us wonder whether yesterday’s hero would be detained for longer.

Luckily he managed to explain he was leaving for mainland Europe shortly and was believed so was released soon after. Skipper drove back to Howden and then York before heading to bed for so much needed sleep satisfied with a job well done.
